Rick Ross and Young Jeezy: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know

Just when people thought rappers Rick Ross and Young Jeezy are getting along — guess not!

Things blew up between the two rap stars, who have been throwing veiled digs at each other for some time through their songs, and they started shouting at and shoving each other backstage at the BET Hip Hop Awards, which are being taped tonight in Atlanta.

BET security and their bodyguards broke them up, but of course, someone had to fire off some shots in the parking lot, because really, what good is a rap star fight without someone shooting a gun?

The venue ended up being on lockdown as the Atlanta City Police broke up the parking lot melee, TMZ reported.

But the show went on. Jeezy and Ross are still there, with both taping performances tonight. And police said there were no arrests and denied shots were fired altogether — but witnesses insisted there were indeed shots.

1. The Two Started Fighting in 2010

Their squabbles began in August 2010, when Jeezy released a freestyle over the instrumental on Ross’ hit, “B.M.F.” The song, “Death B4 Dishonor had a few lines Ross reportedly took as an insult:

“How you blowin’ money fast/ You don’t know the crew/ Oh, you part of the fam?/ Sh–, I never knew.”

2. A Web Clip Fueled the Fire

Jeezy told MTV News an internet clip further angered Ross.

“I feel like the whole started thing from a clip on WorldStarHipHop, and my thing was, if I’m a boss and you a boss, let’s sit down and be bosses. You take a clip that somebody edited and run with that? What part of the game is that? If you felt like that, hit me up, let’s chop it up, we bosses.”

3. The BET Awards Bring out their Blood

Jeezy said Ross wouldn’t talk with him at the last awards, even though he thinks their feud is really about selling records.

4. The Hip Hop Awards Are Before Jeezy’s Birthday Celebration

An invitation only, black-tie affair, presented by Ciroc Premium Vodka, is serving as a birthday celebration for this year’s honoree – Young Jeezy. Wonder if the fued will spoil the party?

5. Rick Ross Has More Money

Young Jeezy is worth $15 million, banking $5 million through touring with JayZ. Rick Ross is worth $25 million, and in 2011 made his third-straight Forbes Cash Kings appearance for his solid album sales and touring.

6. Bill O’Reilly Hates Young Jeezy

Bill O’Reilly, no stranger to feuding himself, came out in protest of Jeezy’s appearance at President Barack Obama’s inauguration, where he performed “My President is Black”. O’Reilly and fellow commentator Dennis Miller (didn’t you like Miller better when he was a comedian?) ripped the performance apart. Nothing like two old angry white guys trying to talk about rappers without sounding like a couple of racists, is there? Now that’s entertainment!

7. Ross Could Probably Bend Jeezy Like a Pretzel

Ross is a massive figure, at 6 feet tall and 300 pounds — not counting his bling. And he went to college on a football scholarship, so he’s not really someone to mess with, physically, anyway.

8. Rap Isn’t Just an American Thing

Rick Ross was scheduled to perform in Dubai just last week, but cancelled at the last minute. He plans to head back next month.

9. Ross Has Been in Front of and Behind Bars

The Smoking Gun reported in 2008 Ross worked an 18-month stint as a correctional officer at the South Florida Reception Center. Ross initially denied it, then admitted he had worked there in the 1990s. But also in 2008, Ross was arrested on drug and gun charges — putting him behind bars too.

10. Jeezy is No Stranger to Jail

Jeezy was arrested in Miami, Ross’ hometown after an alleged shooting involving some of his friends. Prosecutors ended up dropping charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Jeezy also destroyed his Lamborghini in 2007, when a taxi hit him. He also has a DUI charge from 2008.
