CNN to Project State-By-State Winners onto Empire State Building

In New York City, residents don’t need to watch Twitter or even their TVs to see who’s winning the U.S. Presidential Election. They just need to look at the Empire State Building.

As CNN projects the winner of each state, the iconic beacon on New York’s tallest building will be displaying the race to 270 electoral votes with a vertical LED illuminated “meter” on its spire — blue for the incumbent Democratic President Obama, and red for the Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

When the news network has a winner, the spire and the floors at the top of the building will turn to the colors of the winning party.

The election results will be visible from the Empire State building to millions across New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut.
