FBI Searches Paula Broadwell’s North Carolina House

FBI agents were at Paula Broadwell’s house Monday night, where they searched the home she shares with her husband and two children.

According to local media, the agents brought out cardboard boxes and were on both floors of the home, as people gathered outside. However, there was no sign of the woman at the center of the controversy surrounding the resignation of Gen. David Petraeus as head of the CIA.

Meanwhile, her neighbors said Monday that Broadwell, her physician husband and children were doing well, and Broadwell marked her 40th birthday in Washington D.C. over the weekend.

“They’re trying to bring some order to something that’s very messy right now,” said her neighbor, Sarah Curme, who picked up the family’s newspapers.

Another Charlotte friend said Broadwell is nothing like the media is portraying her — as a jealous mistress who got caught sending harassing e-mails to a woman she suspected as a rival.

I don’t know if I don’t believe it, or I don’t want to believe it.

She described Broadwell as a devoted mother with a natural rapport with children, and said their group of friends socializes at their children’s events, and noted that they often gathered at her house to organize activities.

Curme said the family plans to return in the next couple of days, as her sons need to return to school and her husband, Dr. Scott Broadwell, needs to go back to work.

Meanwhile, the media has been stationed outside the Broadwell home, waiting for some sign of the woman behind the scandal. But Curme said she expects the couple to work through their problems.

Knowing both of them, I suspect they will join forces and work through this. It might take a while but they’ll come out on the other side.
