Porn Industry May Pull Out of L.A. over New Condom Law

Ron Jeremy.

The porn industry is moaning and groaning over a referendum that passed Tuesday in Los Angeles County requiring porn actors to wear condoms during sex scenes.

Fifty-six percent of L.A. County voters decided they know what’s best for the health of smut stars, but long-dong legend Ron Jeremy told the Daily News that condoms and porn just don’t mix:

People think they’re doing performers a favor, but the performers don’t want it. They’ve studied this, and people don’t want to see rubbers in porn. They say it ruins the fantasy. You can’t make a film with rubbers, dental dams and white gloves and think it will sell against a European product that’s natural, hardcore sex.

Reuters reports that the Free Speech Coalition is filing suit to challenge the “intolerable law.”

The coalitions chief executive, Diane Duke, told Reuters that the industry is being wooed by more “welcoming communities”:

In the upcoming weeks and months, we will provide a roadmap for adult production to move its over a billion dollar industry and its accompanying 10,000 jobs to these welcoming communities.
