Drunk Grandpa Busted for Asking to Bring a Gun to Grandkids’ Schools

The post-Sandy Hook Massacre aftermath continues to shock and frighten.

A 61-year-old man, Stephen Craig Miller, was arrested on Monday after asking if he could bring a gun onto property at two schools to protect his grandchildren — while intoxicated — in Port Charlotte, Florida.

A call to Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 2 p.m. from Kingsway Elementary claimed that a heavily intoxicated Miller was asking school personnel about bringing a gun onto school grounds. He left when he was told he was not allowed on school grounds while drunk and could not bring a gun onto campus.

At 2:22 PM, Miller was found stumbling in the parking lot of Port Charlotte Middle School and asking about the safety of his grandchild. Police arrived and Miller admitted he’d been drinking. He was searched, and no weapons were found, but an unopened can of beer was on the front seat of his car.

He was arrested on two counts of Disruption of a School Function. He was brought to jail and released on $1,000 bond.
