Boat-Building Students Go Missing Without a Clue After Party in Maine

Two students of the Landing School in Arundel, Maine, 21-year-old Zachary Wells and 23-year-old Prescott Wright, went missing without a trace early Thursday morning after a small party at one of their houses.

The two were last seen drinking beer at Wells’ residence with a small group of friends. Another resident of the house told police that they were not in the house when they went downstairs to turn a radio off at 4 a.m. Wells and Wright, who attend a boat-building and yacht design school, did not show up to class Thursday or Friday.

“It’s very, very strange,” Kennebunkport Police Chief Craig Sanford said. “There is nothing to indicate foul play.”

A Coast Guard helicopter searched nearby waters, although there is no evidence to suggest that’s where they disappeared. The families of the two young men traveled to the school from their hometowns and are possibly hiring a private investigator.

Friday was the last day of classes before the winter break for the Landing School — a boat-building and yacht-design college.
