Sam Donaldson, the 42-year news veteran and ABC political correspondent, has been arrested in Lewes, Delaware, for driving under the influence.
Police Chief Jeff Horvath tells Delaware 105.9 FM an officer pulled Donaldson over on Savannah Road around 8 p.m. on December 1, 2012, because he’d driven onto the shoulder. The 78-year-old Northern Virginia resident failed the sobriety test. Donaldson was charged and released. He was cooperative.
Donaldson was taken to the police station where he was booked and then released, reports the New York Post.
Donaldson joined ABC in 1967 and retired from the network in 2009, but he continues to appear on the network’s Sunday morning news show while also contributing to ABC News Radio, reports The Wrap.
