Clint Eastwood Shows Support For Same-Sex Marriage

Clint Eastwood lent his support for gay marriage after signing his name on a court brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn the ban on gay marriage in California. According to Breitbart News, Eastwood joined about 130 other California Republicans signed the “friend of the court” brief to legalize same-sex marriage in their state.

The Oscar-winning director/actor is currently a resident in California, where the law only permits a marriage between a man and a woman. As a long time supporter of the Republican party, Clint Eastwood has been heavily involved in politics. He was part of the campaign for Mitt Romney’s presidency and was present at the 2012 Republican National Convention, where he was improvising on stage with an empty chair for President Barack Obama.

The American Foundation of Human Rights released the brief to the Supreme Court where others like Clint Eastwood have signed the document. Others who have shown their support include former Palm Springs congresswoman Mary Bono Mack, HP CEO Meg Whitman, and former Deputy of Defense Paul Wolfowitz.

Starting next month, the Supreme Court will be hearing appeals about whether the ban is legalized. It’s predicted that the arguments can lead into an agreement to overturn the ban of gay marriage. The law, entitled Proposition 8, was passed in November 2008 that eliminates rights for same-sex couples to marry.

In a recent poll , about 60% of California voters support same-sex marriage according to Field.
