Celebrity hitchhiker, Caleb McGillivary (AKA ‘Kai The Hitchhiker’), who was arrested in May under suspicion of murder is in hospital with self-inflicted wounds after an apparent suicide attempt. He was rushed from Union County jail to a nearby hospital earlier today.
“Shortly after 5:10 a.m. today, Caleb McGillivary was transported from the Union County jail to an area hospital with self-inflicted, non-life threatening injuries,” said Union County spokesman Sebastian D’Elia. Citing privacy issues, she could not comment on the injuries.
McGillivary is accused of beating 73-year-old Joseph Galfy to death on May 12 in his home. The 24-year-old is being held on $3 million bail.
He gained online fame after stopping an attack on a California utility worker.
