ESPN Cancels Ron Burgundy Appearance on SportsCenter

With much of the movie-going public anxiously awaiting the December 18th release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, star Will Ferrell has made a number of promotional appearances on television shows and commercials as indelible anchorman Rob Burgundy.

But the droves of fans who were anticipating him to host the 6 p.m. SportsCenter on Thursday will have to get their Burgundy fix elsewhere. With the announcement of the Jameis Winston sexual assault investigation results coming on Thursday afternoon, ESPN opted to postpone the comedic appearance.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office opened an investigation into a sexual assault complaint filed against Winston in November, the Sporting News reported. The incident between the Florida State quarterback and his alleged accuser occurred in December 2012.

The 24-hour sports network has not announced a reschedule date for Burgundy.
