A student with a rifle has been reported on the south campus of the University of New Haven (shown below), reports Fox Connecticut. The school first made the announcement via its official Facebook page.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. A Suspect is in Custody
According to the New Haven Register, a person has been taken into custody at the school.
2. The Man is Described as an Asian Male
EMERGENCY: WHPD has reported an Asian male near South Campus with what appears to be a rifle. SHELTER IN PLACE and await further instruction

Other than him being an Asian male, no other information is available. Despite the arrest, the lockdown has not been lifted as cops perform a “methodical” search in the college. Reports indicate that police believe there is only one gunman.
The Fairfield Sun reports that the man may be a resident of Fairfield, Connecticut.
3. No Shots Are Reported
There are no shots or injuries reported as yet. The man had legal permits for guns, reports NBC Connecticut. His permits do not cover any long guns according to reports.
4. The Lockdown Spread to Other Schools
Two local schools, Forest Elementary and Carrigan Intermediate, were also place on precautionary lockdown. With streets around the college also closed due to police activity.

5. A Professor in the School is an Expert on Shootings
One of the professors at the school, Henry Lee, is a shooting forensics expert who has worked on many high profile cases.
