McCarran Airport Shots Fired/Active Shooter Las Vegas: What We Know Now

There were reports of shots fired in a parking garage at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on September 19. The incident was likely domestic-violence related, according to the Las Vegas police and airport Twitter pages.

According to WGXA, police believe that the suspect met a man and woman after they arrived home from a trip and shot them both. He had a previous relationship with the woman; both of those shot are in stable condition, said the television station.

Las Vegas Now said it was an “active situation” and police were responding to the scene.

The airport connector tunnel was then reopened, and a reporter said the suspect was not believed to be on the airport property anymore.

The reports were very preliminary and were still coming in. However, early indications are that the shooting is domestic-violence related and that it was not ISIS-related or terrorism. The official airport Twitter site confirmed the shooting, and said it appears domestic violence related.

The airport also said police were on the scene.

The Review Journal reported: “Police said one person was shot in the parking garage and it was related to domestic violence.”

However, another report said two people were shot, and the shooter was at large.

News 3 Las Vegas said police were hunting for a Ford Escape.

It was not clear whether the suspect was in custody or the condition of the victim as details were still coming in.

The reports come as the nation remains on high alert after a series of attacks in New York, New Jersey, and in Minnesota over the weekend. Police said they arrested the man they believe was responsible for the Chelsea explosion on Monday after a shootout with police. That had people wondering what was going on:

Police and an ambulance were reported at the airport:

KTNV said the shooting was reported in the parking garage of the airport around 6 p.m.
