Times Square Car Crash: Photos From the Scene

A car plowed into a crowd of people in Times Square on Thursday afternoon, killing one person and injuring many others.

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio said in a press conference on Thursday afternoon that 19 people have been injured and one person is dead. The New York Police Department says that the motive is not believed to be terrorism.

New York Police Department Commissioner James O’Neill said that the suspect, Richard Rojas, is a 26-year-old man from the Bronx who had been arrested multiple times.

This incident occurred during lunch time, meaning Times Square was even more packed with pedestrians than usual.

As soon as the crash occurred, New York City residents began to post on Twitter photos from the scene. Here are some of the pictures that have been coming in from the scene of the Times Square crash.

Times Square has since been evacuated and is now completely empty.

Shortly after the crowd was cleared, a bomb squad arrived on the scene.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has also arrived on the scene.
