Bengals vs Steelers Preview

Both the Bengals and Steelers started strong with Week 1 wins, but are now looking to rebound after losses. After gutting out an OT victory in Week 1, Cincinnati dropped its last game to Chicago despite a late flurry. The Bengals out-gained the Bears and allowed just 83 passing yards.

“We’ve just got to be better all around,” quarterback Joe Burrow said. “I can be better, backs can be better, O-line can be better, receivers can be better, coaches can be better. We can all be better. That’s what you try to do each week.”

This game holds extra importance, seeing as it’s a divisional matchup against the reigning AFC North champs.

“You’ve gotta just win games in this division,” ZacTaylor said. “That’s one thing that we have got to do a better job of. It starts this week against Pittsburgh. Again, our guys are excited. This is an important one. It is Pittsburgh. It’s a divisional game. It’s a road game. We got a lot of work in front of us over these next four days to get ready.”

The Steelers got a big win in Week 1 against the Bills but stumbled last week against the Raiders, falling 26-17. Pittsburgh could not get the run game going, managing just 39 total yards on the ground. And they’ll also have to deal with a banged up defense, which will likely be without star pass-rusher TJ Watt, who is dealing with a groin injury and is listed as doubtful.

“This isn’t going around and playing pee wee football,” Watt said. “This is playing against guys doing this for a living, so trying to be smart. At the same time, knowing your body more than anything. I felt like I did a good amount this week to leave the door open for Sunday.”

On offense, veteran Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with a pectoral injury. If he’s unable to go, the Steelers would turn to Mason Rudolph.

“We’d better be ready to be adjustable,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference.
