Coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday that Jones (ribs) may be limited in practice this week but believes the running back will be available for Sunday's game at Tennessee, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports. Jones missed about a quarter of action in the second half of Sunday's win in Jacksonville due to a chest injury but got back into the contest late in the fourth quarter. During his time off the field, he underwent X-rays that were returned negative, per Seifert. O'Connell called Jones' health concern a rib issue Monday, so pain tolerance likely will be the running back's main impediment in the short term.

May have practice limitations
Okay after injury scare
Jones rushed the ball 17 times for 88 yards in Sunday's 12-7 win over the Jaguars. He added two receptions on three targets for 13 yards. Jones suffered a chest injury late in the third quarter and missed roughly 15 minutes of game time before re-entering the contest late in the fourth quarter. He still led the team in carries and was the only running back to record multiple catches, allowing him to top 100 total yards for the first time since Week 7. Most importantly, Jones spoke to reporters after the game and disclosed that his X-rays came back clean per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, suggesting he should be fine heading into a Week 11 matchup against the Titans.
Returns to Sunday's contest
Jones (chest) returned to Sunday's game in Jacksonville, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Jones stayed on the turf late in the third quarter, visited the sideline tent and then was carted to the locker room due to a chest injury. However, he was able to return and log back-to-back carries in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
Needs cart to go to locker room
Jones (chest) was carted to the locker room early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game at Jacksonville, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Officially, Jones is questionable to return due to a chest injury, per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com. Prior to his exit, Jones remained on the turf as trainers tended to him and then visited the medical tent before trying to jog on the sideline. If he doesn't reenter the contest, he'll end Week 10 with 13 carries for 71 yards and two catches (on three targets) for 13 yards. Cam Akers likely will take on a large share of the Vikings backfield for as long as Jones is out, but Ty Chandler also is on hand for RB reps.
Needs 25 touches to reach 82 yards
Jones rushed 21 times for 64 yards and caught all four of his targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts. Jones struggled to the tune of a 3.0 per-carry average without scoring a touchdown in Sunday's win. All of Minnesota's scoring came via the passing game, while the team's leading rusher struggled to gain traction against a tough Indianapolis front. Jones has scored just three touchdowns through eight starts with Minnesota, but he has produced 810 yards from scrimmage to help offset the lack of scoring. The veteran tailback could be in line for a healthy projection against the lowly Jaguars next Sunday.
Garners 95 total yards in loss
Jones rushed 19 times for 58 yards and secured both targets for 37 yards in the Vikings' 30-20 loss to the Rams on Thursday night. Jones found running room at a premium against a Rams defense that had experienced its share of struggles up this point in the season, but he did finish tied for second in receptions and as the runner-up in receiving yards as well. The veteran back had dealt with a hamstring injury early in the week but went into the contest without a designation, and he equaled his second-highest carry total of the campaign. Jones now has over 35 receiving yards in four of seven games as well, and he'll draw a favorable matchup against the Colts in a Week 9 home clash on Sunday night, Nov. 3.
Cleared for Thursday's contest
Jones (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday and doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game at the Rams, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. Jones was estimated as a limited participant on Monday's practice report before logging a limited walkthrough Tuesday, so his ability to handle every rep Wednesday indicates the hamstring injury he sustained Week 5 against the Jets in London is behind him. He thus should be poised for his normal workload out of Minnesota's backfield Thursday, which so far has amounted to 17.5 touches per game in six appearances this season.
Estimated as limited Monday
Jones (hamstring) was estimated as limited on Monday's practice report. The Vikings didn't actually hold a practice Monday, one day after losing to the Lions, but they are required to release an injury report ahead of Thursday night's quick turnaround against the Rams. Jones missed practice last Wednesday but returned to the field Thursday and Friday and played through the hamstring issue Sunday, finishing with 116 total yards from scrimmage and one touchdown on 17 touches versus Detroit.
Impressive in division loss
Jones rushed 14 times for 93 yards and a touchdown and secured all three targets for 23 yards in the Vikings' 31-29 loss to the Lions on Sunday. Jones came into the weekend sporting a questionable designation due to a hamstring injury, but there were no signs of any limitations as the veteran back tied his third-highest rushing yardage total of the season. He also managed his fifth multi-catch game over the first six contests, and he found the end zone on the ground for the first time since Week 1 on a 34-yard run to open the scoring in the first quarter. Jones retains clear control of Minnesota's backfield heading into a Week 8 road matchup against the Rams on Thursday night.
