Spann-Ford played 33 of the Cowboys' 66 snaps on offense and recorded two catches for 24 yards on two targets in Sunday's 34-26 win over the Commanders. With Jake Ferguson (concussion) sidelined, Luke Schoonmaker drew the start at tight end, while Spann-Ford moved up a spot on the depth chart at served as the No. 2 option. The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota proved to be a reliable tertiary target in the passing game and frequently shared the field with Schoonmaker, who played 65 percent of the snaps. The Cowboys are expected to lean on Schoonmaker and Spann-Ford as their primary tight ends once again Thursday versus the Giants, as Ferguson has yet to practice this week and looks to be trending toward a second straight absence.

Brevyn Spann-Ford Latest News
Two catches in Week 12
Records four catches in Week 11
Spann-Ford played 41 of the Cowboys' 83 snaps on offense and finished with four catches for 42 yards on five targets in Monday's 34-10 loss to the Texans. Starting tight end Jake Ferguson played just seven snaps before leaving the game with a concussion, resulting in elevated playing time for Luke Schoonmaker (44 snaps), Spann-Ford and Princeton Fant (seven). With Dallas trailing by multiple scores for much of the contest, quarterback Cooper Rush dropped back 60 times on the night and targeted 11 pass catchers, with Spann-Ford being of the beneficiary of the game script. According to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, head coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged Tuesday that Ferguson "will be hard pressed" to clear concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, and while Schoonmaker would be in line to start for Ferguson, Spann-Ford would still be on track for added snaps.
First NFL catches in Sunday's win
Spann-Ford caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Steelers. The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota pulled down the first receptions of his NFL career, as nine different receivers caught passes from Dak Prescott on the night. Jake Ferguson remains the unquestioned No. 1 tight end for Dallas, but if he were to miss time due to injury again, Spann-Ford could be ready to push Luke Schoonmaker for snaps and looks in his place.
Trending towards backup role
Spann-Ford is on track to back up Luke Schoonmaker in Week 2 versus the Saints, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. With Jake Ferguson (knee) doubtful, Spann-Ford is on track to back up Schoonmaker at tight end. Spann-Ford was on the field for 18 offensive snaps in Week 1 but didn't receive any targets. Given his move up the depth chart, he could potentially see a little more action against New Orleans.
