Davis recorded 10 total tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 26-20 overtime victory versus the Rams. Davis was rather busy in his debut with the Lions after being traded to Detroit in March, finishing second on the team in takedowns. The cornerback played 77 of the team's 78 total defensive snaps, missing his only snap after briefly getting hurt on a diving interception attempt in the fourth quarter. With the Lions' offense amongst the best in the NFL, Davis could have a big year with the team's opponents likely attempting to come from behind late in games.

Carlton Davis Latest News
Ten tackles in team debut
Davis recorded 10 total tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 26-20 overtime victory versus the Rams. Davis was rather busy in his debut with the Lions after being traded to Detroit in March, finishing second on the team in takedowns. The cornerback played 77 of the team's 78 total defensive snaps, missing his only snap after briefly getting hurt on a diving interception attempt in the fourth quarter. With the Lions' offense amongst the best in the NFL, Davis could have a big year with the team's opponents likely attempting to come from behind late in games.
Off NFI list
The Lions activated Davis (undisclosed) off the active/non-football injury list Wednesday. Whatever injury Davis was dealing with must have been minor, as he was activated off Detroit's active/non-football injury list just hours after being placed on it. He's now eligible to return to the field and participate in Lions training camp.
Lands on NFI list
The Lions placed Davis (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Wednesday. Both the nature and extent of Davis' injury are currently unknown, but the 27-year-old is still eligible to practice and play at any point in the preseason, despite his placement on the active/non-football injury list. Davis is entering his first season in Detroit after spending the last six years of his career in Tampa Bay, and he's expected to step in and immediately be a major contributor in the Lions' secondary.
Traded to Detroit
The Buccaneers are trading Davis to the Lions, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Detroit gets an experienced starter to address the obvious weak point of an otherwise stellar roster. The Bucs probably won't get much in return; for them, the appeal largely comes from avoiding more than $14 million in non-guaranteed payments scheduled for Davis in 2024 (after the recent re-signings of QB Baker Mayfield and WR Mike Evans). The 27-year-old Davis has played between 10 and 14 games each season since the Bucs took him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, starting 75 of his 76 regular-season appearances while averaging 54 tackles, 12.2 pass defenses, 1.5 interceptions, 0.5 forced fumbles and 0.7 fumble recoveries per season.
Gets first interception of season
His pick came in the middle of the second quarter when a Gardner Minshew pass intended for Josh Downs ended up way off the mark. Davis' tackle total was also a season high. He'll now look to build on his success in Week 13 versus the Panthers.
Returning from absence Sunday
Davis will therefore be available to a Buccaneers defense, drawing the unenviable task of trying to slow down a 49ers offense that seemed to regain its confidence in a Week 10 rout of the Jaguars. Davis missed one game with the toe injury and will resume his quest for his first interception of the campaign in Sunday's contest.
Will be game-time decision
Davis appears to have recently aggravated the toe injury that forced him to miss two games earlier this season, putting him in jeopardy of sitting out Sunday's contest. His status may not be solidified until Tampa Bay releases its inactive list 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
