Tolbert hurt his finger late in the first half of this past Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers and was unable to return. The fact he would have logged some activity if the Cowboys had held practice Wednesday generally is a good sign, but he may need to maintain that activity level, at least, to give himself a chance to avoid a designation by week's end.

Tolbert caught one of two targets for an 11-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The third-year wideout made his only grab of the day count, getting both feet down at the back of the end zone early in the third quarter for his fifth TD of the season. Tolbert has seen little volume since Cooper Rush took over as the Cowboys' QB, catching two passes or fewer in five straight games and posting a 7-95-2 line on 18 targets over that stretch. However, Tolbert might be able to hit pay dirt again Week 16 against the Buccaneers' vulnerable secondary.

Until then, the talented receiver's floor will remain low.

Tolbert got a few short receptions from Cooper Rush, but when Trey Lance took over the offense late, the duo failed to connect on a deep pass that went for an interception -- in fact, Tolbert never even turned around to see if the ball was coming his way. Prescott could be headed for season-ending surgery, and no matter who his replacement at QB is, Tolbert's ceiling figures to be a lot lower heading into a Week 11 clash with the Texans.
