Coach Matt Eberflus said Allen rolled his ankle at Friday's practice, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but the Bears are "hopeful" the wide receiver will be able to suit up, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. After Allen got injured, the Bears pulled him halfway through Friday's session. Allen himself told Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times that his ankle has some stiffness, but he also expects to be able to go this weekend. Ultimately, Allen's availability will be confirmed, one way or another, about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Optimism for Sunday
ET kickoff.
Questionable due to ankle injury
Allen (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Allen popped up on the injury report as a limited participant in practice Friday. The late-week timing of the injury is concerning, but the veteran wide receiver's status likely won't be clarified until close to 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. When he's healthy, Allen has been outproduced by DJ Moore and Rome Odunze recently in a Bears passing game that hasn't produced a touchdown since Week 6.
Four catches in Week 11 loss
Allen secured four of eight targets for 41 yards in the Bears' 20-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday. Allen finished third in receptions and second in targets in the Bears' first game under interim offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, and the veteran recorded a clutch 12-yard grab on Chicago's final drive. Allen has at least four receptions in three straight games, but his short-area role -- he hasn't eclipsed 44 receiving yards in any game -- is likely to continue capping his fantasy appeal despite the change at coordinator.
Leading receiver in Week 10 loss
Allen caught five of six targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Patriots. While his production was modest, it was was enough to lead Chicago in catches and receiving yards, and the 44 yards were actually a season high for the former Charger. Injuries along the offensive line have completely sabotaged the Bears' offense -- Caleb Williams was sacked nine times Sunday -- but Allen's reliability as a possession receiver at least allows him to maintain a decent PPR floor. Unless the offensive line gets healthier though, it will be tough to rely on any part of the Chicago offense heading into a Week 11 rivalry game against Green Bay.
Abysmal showing against Arizona
Allen recorded four receptions on 10 targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 29-9 loss to Arizona. Allen led the Bears in targets and commanded his highest total since Week 1. However, that didn't help him get on track with Caleb Williams as he averaged only 3.6 yards per target despite decent gains of 13 and 11 yards. Allen has managed to surpass 40 yards in a game just once in six chances on the campaign.
Can't get going with seven targets
Allen recorded two receptions on seven targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Commanders. Allen led the team with seven targets -- his highest mark since Week 1 -- a particularly notable total given that Caleb Williams took to the air only 24 times. His stat line left plenty to be desired, though he did manage a key 22-yard reception late in the fourth quarter to set up a go-ahead touchdown. Despite some reasons for optimism, Allen has yet to record more than 41 receiving yards in a game this season.
Breakout effort in London win
Allen brought in all five targets for 41 yards and two touchdowns in the Bears' 35-16 win over the Jaguars on Sunday in London. The veteran wideout finally had his first truly productive showing in a Bears uniform, with Allen securing touchdown grabs of nine and three yards in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. Allen finished tied with Cole Kmet for the team lead in receptions and second to his teammate in receiving yards while posting season-high totals in both categories. Allen's fantasy value is still likely to be capped on the weeks he doesn't get into the end zone, but Sunday's performance at least affords him some much-needed momentum heading into a Week 7 bye.
Just three catches again
Allen caught three of six targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 36-10 win over the Panthers. Allen set a season high in receiving yards, but he has yet to post a breakout performance with the Bears. A two-game absence due to a heel injury contributed to his slow start, so at least Allen appears healthy after suiting up for each of Chicago's last two games. The veteran wide receiver has a nice opportunity to get on track in a Week 6 London matchup against a weak Jacksonville secondary.
Three grabs in return
Allen brought in all three targets for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-18 win over the Rams on Sunday. Making his return from a two-game absence due to a heel injury, Allen was a complementary piece of the passing attack on a day when Caleb Williams threw for only 157 yards and a touchdown. Despite the modest numbers Sunday, fantasy managers can take some solace in the fact DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, Allen's fellow wideouts, combined for just four catches and 32 receiving yards in their own right. Allen could have a larger role in a favorable Week 5 home matchup against the Panthers.
