Allen brought in all three targets for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-18 win over the Rams on Sunday. Making his return from a two-game absence due to a heel injury, Allen was a complementary piece of the passing attack on a day when Caleb Williams threw for only 157 yards and a touchdown. Despite the modest numbers Sunday, fantasy managers can take some solace in the fact DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, Allen's fellow wideouts, combined for just four catches and 32 receiving yards in their own right. Allen could have a larger role in a favorable Week 5 home matchup against the Panthers.

Three grabs in return
Active in Week 4
Allen (heel) is active for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Rams. The veteran wideout was able to work back to a full practice Friday after opening the week with consecutive limited sessions, and his Week 4 return is now official. Allen will be taking the field for the first time since Week 1, when he provided a 4-29 line on 11 targets. With Allen back in the fold Sunday, rookie first-round pick Rome Odunze, who's coming off a career-best 6-112-1 line against the Colts in Week 3, is expected to slide back into a No. 3 receiver role versus Los Angeles.
Plans to play in Week 4
Allen (heel), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Rams, is planning on playing, per NFL Insider Jordan Schultz. Allen was reportedly already expected to give it a go in Week 4 after missing the Bears' last two contests due to a heel injury, but head coach Matt Eberflus confirmed Saturday that the plan is for the wide receiver to play. The 32-year-old caught four of 11 targets for 29 yards in Week 1 versus the Titans, and he'll look to build off of that against Los Angeles.
Expected to play
The Bears expect Allen to play Sunday against the Rams, and the wideout said he doesn't think his heel injury will continue bothering him this year, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Allen is listed as questionable after missing the past two games, but an upgrade to full practice participation Friday suggests he might be closer to 'probable' if the designation still existed. His optimism about any lingering hinderance shouldn't necessarily be shared by fantasy managers, considering Allen dealt with a similar problem in his heel/foot late last season and has been bothered by the current injury through most of August and September. He drew 11 targets in the season opener, but the Bears may consider scaling back his workload -- both in terms of snaps and targets -- if they're worried about Allen aggravating his heel injury and missing additional time. It sounds like only a late setback would land him on the inactive list ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Listed as questionable after FP
Allen (heel) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams after upgrading to full practice participation Friday. Players that finish the week as full participants almost always play, but Allen's case remains worth monitoring given that his heel problems date back to last season and may be a lingering theme this year. He caught four of 11 targets for 29 yards in a Week 1 win over the Titans before aggravating his injury in the fourth quarter and missing the next two games. If Allen avoids the inactive list ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, his presence will lower volume projections for all of Chicago's other pass catchers while knocking DeAndre Carter out of his spot in three-wide sets. Fellow wideout Rome Odunze has avoided a designation on the final injury report after a hip issue limited his practice participation Thursday.
Another limited showing
Allen (heel) practiced on a limited basis Thursday. Allen played through a heel issue Week 1 against the Titans en route to four catches (on 11 targets) for 29 yards. He then was held out of all drills during prep for Weeks 2 and 3 before returning to practice Wednesday. With consecutive capped sessions in his back pocket this week, Allen seems to be putting himself in a position to suit up again Sunday versus the Rams, but Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation. Meanwhile, rookie WR Rome Odunze (hip) showed up on Thursday's report as a limited participant, adding another question mark to the Bears' receiving corps.
Officially limited Wednesday
Allen (heel) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Allen's official listing on Wednesday's practice report is confirmation of what head coach Matt Eberflus said earlier in the day, when he noted that the veteran wideout would resume practicing as a partial participant. Eberflus also said he's "hopeful" Allen will be able to both return to the field for Sunday's game against the Rams, after having missed the Bears' previous two contests. Allen will have two more opportunities to upgrade to full participation in practice prior to Sunday's contest.
Returning to practice Wednesday
Coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that Allen (heel) will return to practice as a partial participant, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Allen's heel injury has prevented him from practicing or playing the last two weeks, but it sounds like he'll be back on the field and listed as 'limited' Wednesday. Eberflus said he's "hopeful" Allen will be able to suit up for Sunday's game against the Rams, per Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network, as well as remain available for the long term. Allen's heel issue may be something he has to manage over the course of the season, after the veteran wideout missed time due to it mid-August and also dealt with a heel injury down the stretch of the 2023 season with the Chargers. Elsewhere in the Bears' receiving corps, rookie first-rounder Rome Odunze broke out with six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in Chicago's 21-16 loss to the Colts in Week 3.
Ruled out for Week 3
Allen (heel) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. Allen hasn't practiced at all since aggravating his heel injury during a Week 1 win over the Titans. He'll now miss a second straight game, whereas fellow Bears wideout Rome Odunze (knee) avoided an injury designation after upgrading to full practice participation Friday.
