Nate Hobbs Latest News
Out for Week 12
Hobbs (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports. Hobbs was injured in Week 9 against the Bengals and will miss his second consecutive contest. Decamerion Richardson, Jack Jones and Darnay Holmes paced the Raiders' cornerbacks in playing time last Sunday against Miami.
Missing Wednesday's Practice
Head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters that Hobbs (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old cornerback was sidelined for the Raiders' Week 11 loss to the Dolphins after sustaining an ankle injury the week prior, and Wednesday's DNP suggests he might be at risk of missing additional time. If Hobbs cannot upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday, he'll likely miss his second consecutive game in the Week 12 matchup against the Broncos.
Ruled out for Week 11
Hobbs (ankle) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Miami. Hobbs was carted off the field due to an ankle injury in Week 8 against the Bengals. Even with the extra rest thanks to the Raiders' Week 10 bye, the 2021 fifth-round pick was unable to practice all week, and his next chance to play will be Week 12 against the Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 24. With Hobbs sidelined Sunday, Darnay Holmes and Decamerion Richardson are candidates to start at nickel corner.
Misses Wednesday's practice
Hobbs (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports. The Illinois product was carted to the locker room after sustaining an ankle injury in Las Vegas' Week 9 loss to Cincinnati, so it's no surprise that he's missing Wednesday's practice. If Hobbs is unable to practice in at least a limited fashion either Thursday or Friday, expect Darnay Holmes and Decamerion Richardson to see increased work with the Raiders' first-team defense in Week 11's matchup against the Dolphins.
Will not return
Hobbs (ankle) will not return to Sunday's game versus the Bengals. No surprise here, as Hobbs was carted to the locker room. In his absence, Decamerion Richardson and Darnay Holmes are candidates to fill in at slot cornerback.
Carted off with ankle injury
Hobbs exited Sunday's game against the Bengals with an ankle injury and is questionable to return. Hobbs was carted to the locker room with the injury. The Raiders will move forward with Jack Jones, Jakorian Bennett, Darnay Holmes and Decamerion Richardson available at cornerback while Hobbs is sidelined.
Snags pick in loss
Hobbs logged six tackles (six solo), a pass deflection and an interception during Las Vegas' loss to the Rams on Sunday. Hobbs managed to pick off Matthew Stafford during Sunday's loss in what was the only turnover the Raiders managed to force. The 25-year-old's interception also served as his first of the season and third of his career.
Records season-high 10 tackles
Hobbs recorded 10 tackles (four solo) and one pass defensed in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Steelers. Hobbs hadn't notched more than five tackles in a single contest this season until Sunday's tilt. He's yet to force a turnover through the first six weeks of his 2024 campaign, but Hobbs remains a key piece in the Raiders' secondary ahead of a matchup against the Rams, who might be returning wide receiver Cooper Kupp (ankle) from a three-game absence.
Set to return Monday
Hobbs missed the last four games with an ankle injury but he appears to be good to go for Monday's game after putting in three limited sessions in practice leading up to Week 8. He'll resume his role at starting cornerback opposite veteran Marcus Peters.
