Tagovailoa completed 22 of 34 pass attempts for 215 yards and a touchdown while rushing twice for a loss of one yard in Sunday's 29-17 win over San Francisco. Tagovailoa played the role of game manager in Sunday's comfortable win, letting Miami's rushing attack and defense handle the 49ers. The Alabama product showed no ill effects from the hip injury that limited the signal-caller during the practice week. The win kept the Dolphins' slim playoff hopes alive, so the team will need more mistake-free football from Tagovailoa against the Browns next Sunday.

Modest numbers in win
Clear for Sunday
Tagovailoa (hip) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game versus the 49ers, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Tagovailoa opened Week 16 prep with back-to-back limited practices due to a hip injury, but offensive coordinator Frank Smith told Furones on Thursday that the quarterback's health wasn't a concern. Indeed, Tagovailoa capped the week with a full session Friday, paving the way for him to continue to direct the Dolphins offense. Having said that, he likely will be working with a depleted receiving corps Sunday, as Tyreek Hill (wrist/personal) is listed as questionable, while both Jaylen Waddle (knee) and Dee Eskridge (knee) are doubtful to suit up.
Still limited at practice
Tagovailoa (hip) remained limited at practice Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Per Furones, offensive coordinator Frank Smith previously indicated that Tagovailoa's hip issue isn't concerning, a notion that would be supported by the QB practicing fully to close out the week. Friday's injury report is destined to relay whether Tagovailoa approaches Week 16 action with an injury designation or fully cleared to face the 49ers on Sunday.
Limited practice Wednesday
Tagovailoa (hip) was limited at practice Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Tagovailoa's listed limitations make his status worth tracking ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers, but so far there's been nothing to suggest that the QB's Week 16 status is in danger. Tagovailoa now has two more chances to practice fully, and in turn head into the weekend without an injury designation.
Forgettable afternoon in key game
Tagovailoa completed 29 of 40 passes for 196 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions and lost a fumble in the Dolphins' 20-12 loss to the Texans on Sunday. Tagovailoa's final line underscores how much of a sluggish afternoon it was for the talented quarterback, even in the climate-controlled conditions of NRG Stadium. The fact Jaylen Waddle exited the game with a knee injury in the first half and never returned certainly didn't help Tagovailoa's cause, but he played the biggest role in his and the Dolphins' undoing with his four turnovers, the first two of which helped lead to 10 points for the Texans. Tagovailoa's final miscue of the afternoon, his third interception of the season, was the most ill-timed, considering it came on the first play of what could have evolved into a game-tying drive for Miami. The fifth-year pro had thrown just four interceptions all season coming in, but Sunday marked his second three-pick tally of the season. Tagovailoa will look to keep the Dolphins' increasingly thin playoff hopes alive against a tough defense similar in style and caliber to that of the Texans when he faces the 49ers in a Week 16 home clash.
Third straight 300-yard game
Tagovailoa completed 33 of 47 passes for 331 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 32-26 overtime win over the Jets. He also threw a two-point conversion and rushed once for three yards. Tagovailoa completed 15 of 18 passes for 165 yards in the first half but failed to produce a passing touchdown. His completion percentage fell off after halftime, but Tua threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill followed by a two-point conversion to Jaylen Waddle to tie the game 23-23 with 9:04 remaining in the fourth quarter. The quarterback later guided the Dolphins into position for a game-tying 52-yard Jason Sanders field goal in the final seconds of regulation, then drove right down the field on the first possession of overtime to clinch the victory with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jonnu Smith. Tagovailoa has topped 300 passing yards in three consecutive starts while posting an 8:0 TD:INT over that span, and he'll look to keep rolling in Week 15 against the Texans.
Racks up yardage in loss
Tagovailoa completed 36 of 45 passes for 357 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and added two rushes for six yards in the Dolphins' 30-17 loss to the Packers on Thursday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass. Tagovailoa's final numbers look undeniably impressive without context, particularly for a cold-weather environment in which he's typically had trouble. However, the on-field reality was a bit different, as the Dolphins were already in a 24-3 hole at the half. Tagovailoa did move his team much more efficiently as the game went on, leading three second-half drives of 67 yards or greater, with two of those culminating in touchdown passes to De'Von Achane (14 yards) and Tyreek Hill (12 yards) in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. The 2020 first-round pick also completed a two-point conversion pass to Jaylen Waddle after the first scoring toss, and he threw multiple touchdown strikes without an interception for the third consecutive game. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins will continue their uphill battle to remain in the AFC playoff picture when they host the Jets in a Week 14 divisional matchup on Sunday, Dec. 8, although Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports that the talented signal-caller was walking with a limp in the postgame locker room.
Surgical effort in big win
Tagovailoa completed 29 of 40 passes for 317 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions and rushed three times for minus-2 yards in the Dolphins' 34-15 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Tagovailoa displayed his prototypical mastery of head coach Mike McDaniel's offense, connecting with eight different targets and facilitating particularly productive games for Jaylen Waddle (8-144-1) and Jonnu Smith (9-87-1). Tagovailoa's total through the air marked his first time eclipsing the 300-yard mark since Week 1, while his TD tally -- which consisted of scoring tosses to Smith (seven yards), De'Von Achane (nine, 11 yards) and Waddle (23 yards) -- represented a season-high figure. Tagovailoa and his offensive teammates will next look to dispel their reputation for struggling in cold weather when they visit the Packers for a Thanksgiving Night showdown on Thursday.
Sharp performance in Week 11 win
Tagovailoa completed 28 of 36 passes for 288 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions and committed a fumble recovered by Miami in the Dolphins' 34-19 win over the Raiders on Sunday. Tagovailoa posted his highest yardage total since Week 1 while tying a season high in completions and establishing a new personal best in touchdown passes. The 2020 first-round pick connected with Jonnu Smith (one yard, 57 yards) and Tyreek Hill (eight yards) for his trio of scoring tosses, and he helmed an impressive four second-half scoring drives to help the Dolphins win going away. Tagovailoa recorded completions to nine different targets overall, affording him plenty of momentum going into a Week 12 home matchup against the Patriots.
