Uzomah reverted to the Eagles' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log. Uzomah suited up for the Eagles' Week 11 win over the Commanders on Thursday night, playing just one offensive snap and failing to record a stat. He could rejoin Philadelphia's active roster as soon as Week 12's matchup against the Rams, as the Eagles are currently carrying just two tight ends: Grant Calcaterra and Dallas Goedert.

C.J. Uzomah Latest News
Reverts to practice squad
Uzomah reverted to the Eagles' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log. Uzomah suited up for the Eagles' Week 11 win over the Commanders on Thursday night, playing just one offensive snap and failing to record a stat. He could rejoin Philadelphia's active roster as soon as Week 12's matchup against the Rams, as the Eagles are currently carrying just two tight ends: Grant Calcaterra and Dallas Goedert.
Elevated for Thursday night
The Eagles elevated Uzomah from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Thursday night's game against Washington. Uzomah failed to make the Eagles' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he signed with their practice squad Oct. 10. He'll serve as the Eagles' No. 3 tight end Thursday behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra.
Receives another opportunity
Uzomah signed with the Eagles' practice squad Thursday. Uzomah signed with Philadelphia as a free agent in April, but he was ultimately released by the team Aug. 21. He'll now join the franchise again, this time as a member of the practice squad, and work to earn a spot on their 53-man roster.
Gets cut loose
Uzomah was released by the Eagles on Wednesday, EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Uzomah's exit comes as a bit of a surprise after signing a one-year contract with the team in April. His departure will leave Albert Okwuegbunam, E.J. Jenkins, Kevin Koelsch and Armani Rogers battling for what will likely be one or two spots on the Eagles' final 53-man roster at tight end.
Participating in OTAs
Uzomah (knee) was seen participating at the Eagles' organized training activities Friday, Dave Zangaro of nbcsportsphiladelphia.com reports. Uzomah's 2023 campaign came to an early end after suffering a knee injury in December and subsequently being placed on the Jets' injured reserve. He was ultimately released by New York before later landing in Philadelphia. His participation at OTAs indicates his health is back up to par. The veteran is expected to compete for the Eagles' No. 2 tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.
Agrees to terms with Philadelphia
The Eagles signed Uzomah (knee) to a one-year contract Thursday, Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. After spending the first nine years of his career with the Bengals and Jets, Uzomah has found a new home in Philadelphia. The nine-year veteran appeared in the Jets' first 12 games last year before sustaining a season-ending MCL injury. In those contests, Uzomah tallied eight receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown, playing in just 32-percent of the team's offensive snaps. Once 31-year-old has recovered from his MCL issue, he's expected to compete for the Eagles' top backup tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.
To be released by Jets
The Jets are releasing Uzomah (knee) to clear $5.3 million in cap space, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The 31-year-old tight end caught 29 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games after signing a three-year, $24 million contract with the Jets in March of 2022. Uzomah finished the 2023 season on injured reserve with an MCL injury, and he'll likely have to compete for a backup job if he wants to continue his NFL career.
Penalty negates teammate's TD
Another week, another costly mistake by Uzomah. After dropping what should have been an easy touchdown in the previous game, Uzomah nullified a Breece Hall touchdown with a holding penalty in the second quarter in Vegas. The veteran tight end has yet to exceed two catches or 19 yards in a game this season.
