Logs DNP on Wednesday
Ruiz (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Head coach Darren Rizzi told reporters that Ruiz has passed through the first few steps of the NFL's concussion protocol, despite Wednesday's DNP, per Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. The veteran offensive lineman has a chance at suiting up in Sunday's Week 14 matchup against the Giants if he can complete the final steps of concussion protocol in time.
Full practice Thursday
Ruiz (knee) was a full participant at the Saints' practice Thursday. Ruiz has missed the last four games with a knee injury, but he now appears to be ready to go for Week 8 against the Chargers. The 25-year-old will likely return to his starting role at right guard with New Orleans.
Missing another week
Ruiz (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Broncos. Ruiz was unable to practice Wednesday and has missed the Saints' last four games due to a knee injury, so being ruled out for Thursday night's contest comes as no surprise. Expect Landon Young to continue serving as the Saints' top right guard until Ruiz returns from injury.
Out again versus Bucs
Ruiz (knee) is inactive for Sunday's matchup versus Tampa Bay, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Ruiz will miss the Saints' Week 6 outing after failing to practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The starting right guard's absence should put Landon Young on the front line Sunday.
Won't play Week 5
Ruiz (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against the Chiefs, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Ruiz will miss a second straight game due to a knee injury. Landon Young started at right guard in Week 4 against the Falcons, and he is likely to do so again Monday. Ruiz's next chance at playing will be Week 6 against the Buccaneers on Oct. 13.
