Dante Fowler Latest News
Gets to QB in loss
Fowler recorded five tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Steelers. The outside linebacker also played on 49 percent of the defensive snaps. Fowler has 25 tackles (16 solo), including 8.5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble in 2024.
Good to go for Week 10
Fowler (groin) was a full practice participant Friday and carries no injury designation into Sunday's game against the Steelers. Fowler was limited in the first two practices of the week due to a groin injury, but he was able to participate in Friday's session without restriction. Unless he suffers a setback during pregame warmups, the 2015 first-round pick will suit up Sunday. Through nine regular-season games, Fowler has logged 20 tackles (13 solo), including 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble and a pick-six.
Dealing with groin issue
Fowler (groin) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. The first-year Commander appears to have picked up a groin injury in the team's Week 9 win over the Giants, despite playing 31 defensive snaps and recording six total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, while also forcing a fumble. Fowler's participation in practice Thursday and Friday will likely provide the best indication of whether he can play through the pain in Sunday's matchup against the Steelers.
Disrupts backfield in win
Fowler finished with six tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks and two tackles for losses, in Sunday's 27-22 win over the Giants. The outside linebacker also played on 53 percent of the defensive snaps. Fowler has 20 tackles (13 solo), including 6.5 sacks, a pass defensed, an interception and a forced fumble in 2024.
Nabs first career interception
Fowler recorded two total tackles (both solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pick-six in Sunday's 40-7 win over the Panthers. Fowler ended what looked to be a promising first offensive possession for the Panthers by intercepting a screen pass intended for Miles Sanders and returning it 67-yards for a score. Not only was it the first pick-six of Fowler's nine-year NFL career, but it was also his first interception and third defensive touchdown. The first-year Commander has been extremely impactful through the team's first seven games, recording 13 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, and one pick-six. Expect Fowler to continue making plays for Washington's defense in Week 8's matchup against the Bears.
Collects pair of sacks Week 6
Fowler recorded four tackles (all solo), including 2.0 sacks, in a loss to the Ravens on Sunday. Three of Fowler's four stops went for a loss. Two of those were sacks, which resulted in a combined 15 negative yards for Baltimore. Fowler has 3.5 sacks through six games and has logged over half of Washington's defensive snaps four straight weeks after not doing so in any of his 18 total games (regular season and playoffs) with Dallas last year.
Switching NFC East teams
Fowler is slated to sign with the Commanders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Fowler will join the migration of Cowboys defenders joining new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn in Washington. The 29-year-old spent the last two seasons in Dallas, not missing a single game and recording 10.0 sacks in the process. He should bolster the team's depth on the edges next season.
