The Panthers signed Milne to a reserve/futures contract Tuesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Milne originally signed onto Carolina's practice squad back in October, and now he'll start the new league year in the same place. His experience as a returner could help his case to join a shallow group of wide receivers in 2025.

Sticks in Carolina on futures deal
The Panthers signed Milne to a reserve/futures contract Tuesday, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Milne originally signed onto Carolina's practice squad back in October, and now he'll start the new league year in the same place. His experience as a returner could help his case to join a shallow group of wide receivers in 2025.
Re-signs to practice squad
The Panthers signed Milne to the practice squad Wednesday. Milne was cut from Carolina's practice squad Dec. 10, and he now gets a chance to continue his development with the team. The depth wide receiver has yet to be elevated for a regular-season contest this year.
Released by Carolina
Milne was released from the Panthers' practice squad Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. The wide receiver signed to the Panthers' practice squad Oct. 30 after spending training camp with the Raiders. Milne missed the 2023 season with a groin injury but played in 15 games for the Commanders in 2022, recording six catches for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Carolina bound
Milne signed with the Panthers' practice squad Wednesday. Milne spent training camp with the Raiders after missing the 2023 campaign due to a groin injury but failed to secure a spot on their 53-man roster. The BYU product did suit up 15 times in 2022 for the Commanders, working as a return man and making six catches on seven targets for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Let go by Las Vegas
Milne was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday, per the team's official site. Milne was selected in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by Washington in 2021 and got into 18 regular-season games across his first two professional campaigns, totaling 15 catches on 21 targets for 120 yards and one touchdown while also working as a kick and punt returner. The BYU product spent all of last season on IR due to a groin injury and was waived by the Commanders this July before latching on with Las Vegas. He's now healthy and will look to get another chance on an NFL roster, though he may need to spend time on a practice squad first.
Headed to Las Vegas
Milne agreed to a deal with the Raiders on Tuesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports. Milne spent all of 2023 on injured reserve due to a groin injury, and he was waived by the Commanders on July 31. The 2021 seventh-round pick played in 15 regular-season games with Washington in 2022, registering six catches for 37 yards and one touchdown while adding 611 total return yards. Milne's return experience could help him earn a spot on the Raiders' 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.
Out in Washington
Milne was waived by the Commanders on Wednesday. Milne missed all of Washington's 2023 campaign due to a groin issue, and the team has now decided to let go of the 25-year-old wideout. The BYU product appeared in 15 regular-season games with the Commanders in 2022, recording 611 total return yards and one receiving touchdown. In a corresponding move, Washington agreed to terms with WR Byron Pringle.
Back at minicamp
Milne (groin) was spotted working out during the Commanders' mandatory minicamp session Thursday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. Milne missed all of Washington's 2023 campaign due to a groin injury sustained in late August of last year, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. The BYU product was the Commanders' primary return man the last time he was on the field (2022), tallying 311 punt return yards and 300 kick return yards in 15 games. Now that he's returned to form, expect Milne to compete for another special teams role as the offseason continues.
