Houston had been dealing with a hand injury since the beginning of August, but he was able to suit up for Saturday's preseason contest against the Texans. It's unclear whether he's currently dealing with the same injury or a separate one, but he will now go on waivers. If Houston goes unclaimed, then he would revert to the Giants' injured reserve and be forced to miss all of 2024 unless the two sides reach an agreement on an injury settlement.

His only playing time in the NFL came with the Cowboys in 2022, when he caught two passes for 16 yards in two regular-season games. Houston spent all of 2023 on the Giants' practice squad and signed a reserve/future contract with Big Blue in January in the hopes that he can catch onto the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp.
