Cut by Carolina
The Panthers waived Robinson on Friday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Carolina waived Robinson in order to make room for safety Nick Scott (hamstring), who was activated from IR, on the 53-man roster. A 2023 fifth-round pick, Robinson will be a candidate to resurface on the Panthers' practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
Returns to full health
Robinson (knee) was absent from Wednesday's injury report. Robinson hasn't played since Week 7 due to the injury but appears set to return to action Sunday against the Chiefs. The second-year pro's return could be a boost to the Panthers' special teams unit.
Missing Munich game
Robinson (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants in Munich, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Robinson had been listed as doubtful heading into the weekend after he was limited in practice to begin Week 10 prep before sitting out the team's sessions on Thursday and Friday entirely. Gantt notes that Robinson won't be in attendance for the game, as the second-year safety flew back to the United States to tend to a personal matter. The Panthers will hope that Robinson will heal up from the injury in time to be available after their Week 11 bye.
Won't play vs. Denver
Robinson (knee) was listed as a DNP on Friday and has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos. Robinson was limited during Wednesday's practice, but he ended the week with consecutive DNPs and he will miss his second game of the regular season. With starting strong safety Nick Scott (hamstring) also ruled out ahead of Sunday's game, Lonnie Johnson will likely step up as the Panthers' starting strong safety alongside free safety Xavier Woods.
Limited in practice
Robinson (knee) was a limited participant in Carolina's practice Wednesday. Robinson popped up on the injury report Wednesday due to a knee injury. If the 23-year-old ends up being unable to play versus the Broncos on Sunday, Lonnie Johnson would likely see increased playing time.
Impresses vs. Jets
Robinson finished Saturday's 15-12 preseason loss to the Jets with seven total tackles. The rookie out of Florida State made the most of his opportunities Saturday, leading Carolina in total tackles. If Robinson continues to impress, he could become one of the Panthers' top rotational defensive backs, playing either safety or slot corner, heading into 2024.
