The Montana State product has found a new home in Pittsburgh and could be elevated to the active roster if the Steelers' wide receiver corps faces injuries at any point this season.
The Jets cut McCutcheon from their practice squad Friday, Ethan Greenburg of the team's official site reports. McCutcheon signed with the Jets' practice squad Wednesday after he was unable to make the 53-man roster at the conclusion of training camp. He last saw NFL action in 2022 with the Rams, when he appeared in 10 regular-season games. McCutcheon will cede his spot on the Jets' practice squad to second-year wide receiver Jason Brownlee.
McCutcheon signed with the Jets' practice squad Wednesday. McCutcheon will remain with the Jets' after spending the majority of last season on the team's practice squad. The 25-year-old wideout last appeared in a regular-season game in 2022 with the Rams, failing to haul in any of his five targets while primarily playing on special teams (110 special-teams snaps) across 10 contests.
The Jets waived McCutcheon on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. McCutcheon finished last season on New York's practice squad and signed a reserve/future deal with the organization in January. The wideout struggled in preseason play, catching just two of seven targets for 25 yards.
McCutcheon was cut from the Texans' practice squad on Oct. 10 and was with the Rams during training camp before being let go ahead of the 53-man roster. The undrafted wide receiver out of Montana State played in 10 games for the Rams last season and did not register a catch on five targets. McCutcheon will look to get himself quickly acclimated to the Jets' playbook in the hopes that he gets called up to the active roster this season.
