The Panthers released Haynes on Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Haynes signed with the Panthers on Oct. 12 and played in the team's last two games. He registered four tackles (three solo) during the Panthers' Week 7 loss to the Commanders on Sunday, but it appears he is no longer a part of Carolina's plans this season. Haynes, who was selected by the Panthers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, will look for his next opportunity elsewhere.

Let go by Carolina
The Panthers released Haynes on Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Haynes signed with the Panthers on Oct. 12 and played in the team's last two games. He registered four tackles (three solo) during the Panthers' Week 7 loss to the Commanders on Sunday, but it appears he is no longer a part of Carolina's plans this season. Haynes, who was selected by the Panthers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, will look for his next opportunity elsewhere.
Gets look from Carolina
Haynes (undisclosed) worked out with the Panthers on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Haynes spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Panthers after being selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed with the Cardinals on Aug. 6 to contend for a spot on the 53-man roster, but he was let go just three days later with an injury settlement. Haynes appears to be healthy from whatever was ailing him, and he'll attempt to catch on with the team that originally drafted him. His most productive season was in 2022, when he posted 29 tackles (20 solo), including 5.0 sacks, four passes defended and a fumble recovery for a touchdown over 17 regular-season games.
Cut loose by Arizona
The Cardinals released Haynes with an injury waiver Friday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Haynes will be cut from Arizona just three days after his signing. The veteran linebacker battled a back injury in the 2023 season, but he still logged 16 tackles (13 solo) and one sack across seven games.
Links up with Arizona
The Cardinals signed Haynes to a contract Tuesday. The move corresponds with the Cardinals placing BJ Ojulari (knee) on injured reserve Monday. Haynes spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Panthers after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He missed the first nine regular-season games of 2023 due to a back injury, and he was ruled out for the season finale due to a concussion he sustained in Week 17. Haynes' most productive campaign came in 2022, when he accumulated 29 tackles (20 solo), including 5.0 sacks, along with four passes defended and a fumble recovery for a touchdown across 17 regular-season games.
Questionable for Sunday at Tampa
Haynes was able to practice Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's session, but he was only able to participate in a limited capacity, leaving his status for Sunday in doubt. If he plays in Week 13, he figures to resume a rotational role on the edge behind Brian Burns, Amare Barno and possibly Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring).
Still tending to back injury
It appeared for a moment as if Haynes had finally shaken his lingering back issue when he managed a full practice late last week and played a season-high 26 snaps at Tennessee in Week 12, but his injury is apparently still bothering him to start the Panthers' new week of practice. Even still, it would be somewhat surprising if he didn't get back on the practice field at some point this week and suit up in Week 13 at Tampa Bay.
Ramps up activity
Haynes was limited Wednesday, so this is a step in the right direction for him. The Ole Miss product should be good to go for Sunday's game against the Titans, which will be his second game this season as he continues to deal with a back injury.
Designated to return from IR
The transaction opens a 21-day window during which Carolina can officially activate Haynes before they'd be forced to shut him down for the remainder of the season. The Panthers' injury reports during the week will shed more light on his potential availability for Thursday's game at Chicago.
