Kansas City waived Mettauer (knee) with an injury designation Monday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Mettauer tore his MCL in Kansas City's preseason opener against Jacksonville, though head coach Andy Reid said after the game that the injury won't require surgery. The offensive guard will likely clear waivers and be placed on IR.
Mettauer sustained a tear in his MCL in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com reports. Head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday that the tear won't require surgery. It appears Mettauer's injury isn't season ending, however the timeline of his recovery is not yet clear, though he likely won't see the field for the rest of the preseason. He signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May and was competing for a depth spot on the offensive line before the injury.
Mettauer exited Saturday night's preseason game against the Jaguars with a knee injury and will not return. Mettauer signed with the Chiefs after not being drafted out of Oklahoma back in April and is competing for one of the final roster spots or a practice squad position in Kansas City.
