Joins Seahawks' practice squad
The Seahawks signed Boykin to their practice squad Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Boykin was cut from the Giants' practice squad at the beginning of September, but he's now found a new opportunity in Seattle. The 2019 third-round pick's most recent in-game action came with the Steelers in 2023, when he appeared in 17 regular-season games, playing primarily on special teams (314 snaps).
Loses spot
Boykin was cut from the Giants' practice squad Monday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Boykin was the odd man out in a series of movies that saw Jakob Johnson released from the 53-man roster, Adoree' Jackson signed to it, and then Johnson re-signed to the practice squad. The 27-year-old will work to find a new opportunity, but his lack of success over the past three seasons and inability to live up to his third-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft may make things difficult for the Notre Dame product.
Back with G-Men
Boykin signed with the Giants' practice squad Wednesday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports. The wide receiver was released by the team Tuesday. Boykin has just six catches over the past three seasons but has played more than 600 snaps on special teams in that time.
Released by G-Men
The Giants released Boykin on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. New York wants to bring Boykin back on the practice squad, reports Fowler. A third-round pick by the Ravens in 2019, Boykin never developed into an NFL wideout, but he's been a special-teams standout. He has just six catches over the last three seasons but has played over 600 snaps on special teams in that time.
Signed by Big Blue
The Giants signed Boykin on Tuesday. In 17 regular-season games while working as a reserve wideout for the Steelers in 2023, Boykin caught three of his four targets for 17 yards. With the Giants, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder will provide size and added depth to the squad's wide receiver corps, while also potentially adding value as a core special-teamer.
