Surtain (ankle) was listed as a full participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Surtain was injured late in Sunday's win over the Colts after he intercepted Anthony Richardson and took a hit to the side of the leg. His full participation estimation would suggest he avoided any sort of serious injury, and Surtain should be good to go for Thursday night's divisional clash with the Chargers.

Estimated as full participant
Surtain (ankle) was listed as a full participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Surtain was injured late in Sunday's win over the Colts after he intercepted Anthony Richardson and took a hit to the side of the leg. His full participation estimation would suggest he avoided any sort of serious injury, and Surtain should be good to go for Thursday night's divisional clash with the Chargers.
Dealing with minor ankle sprain
Surtain sustained a sprained ankle during Sunday's game versus the Colts, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The injury is not believed to be severe, leaving open the possibility Surtain will be able to play Thursday against the Chargers. His name will be one to watch for when the Broncos release their official injury reports in the days leading up to that contest.
Hurts ankle following INT
Surtain exited Sunday's game against the Colts with an ankle injury and is questionable to return, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Surtain picked off Anthony Richardson in the fourth quarter and took a low hit from Josh Downs at the end of the play. Prior to leaving, Surtain recorded one tackle (one solo) and two pass breakups, including the one interception.
Intercepts pass in win
Surtain recorded a tackle for a loss, a pass defensed and an interception in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Panthers. The cornerback suffered a concussion during Denver's Week 6 loss to the Chargers and missed the team's Week 7 win over the Saints, but he cleared the concussion protocol in time for this game. Surtain has played on at least 80 percent of the defensive snaps in all of the games he's been fully available to play in this season. The fourth-year pro has 15 tackles (nine solo), six pass breakups and three interceptions in 2024.
Clears concussion protocols
Surtain (concussion) carries no injury designation into Sunday's game against Carolina, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Surtain was a full participant in all three practices this week while working through the league's five-step concussion protocols. He has cleared the final step and will make his return from a one-game absence. Surtain has logged 14 tackles (eight solo) and five defensed passes -- including two interceptions (one of which was a pick-six) -- across six regular-season outings.
Progressing through protocols
Surtain (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice session, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Surtain suffered a concussion in Week 6, which caused him to miss the Broncos' Week 7 win against the Saints. His ability to fully participate in practice Wednesday is an encouraging sign, but he'll need to clear the final steps of the league's concussion protocols in order to play against the Panthers on Sunday. Surtain has accrued 14 tackles (eight solo), five passes defended and two interceptions (including a pick-six) across six regular-season games.
Won't play in Week 7
Surtain (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Saints, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. Surtain was unable to practice in any fashion this week after sustaining a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Broncos. With the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback set to miss his first game of the season, Levi Wallace and Ja'Quan McMillian could be in store for increased reps out of the Denver secondary.
Estimated as DNP
Surtain (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimation. Surtain sustained a concussion in the Broncos' Week 6 loss to the Chargers, so it's no surprise he was estimated as a non-participant Monday. The Alabama product must still clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up for Denver's Week 7 matchup against the Saints on Thursday night.
Will remain out
Surtain suffered a concussion Sunday against the Chargers and will not return, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. Surtain suffered the injury on the first play of the game and will now enter the league's five-step concussion protocols. The absence of the Alabama product will be a significant hit to the Broncos' defense, which Tremon Smith and Levi Wallace will work to lessen for the remainder of Sunday's matchup.
