Stromberg (knee) signed with the Bears' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The second-year center from Arkansas was dropped from the Commanders' injured reserve list with an injury settlement in early September, but it now appears he's moved past his knee issue. Stromberg could find his way on to Chicago's active roster in the near future, especially after the Bears released Nate Davis (back) on Tuesday.

Finds work in Chicago
Stromberg (knee) signed with the Bears' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The second-year center from Arkansas was dropped from the Commanders' injured reserve list with an injury settlement in early September, but it now appears he's moved past his knee issue. Stromberg could find his way on to Chicago's active roster in the near future, especially after the Bears released Nate Davis (back) on Tuesday.
Eyeing mid-season return
Stromberg is undergoing a right knee scope that will sideline him for approximately seven-to-eight weeks, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Stromberg agreed to an injury settlement with the Commanders on Monday, which allows him to sign with any team during the season once he's recovered from his knee scope. The 23-year-old center appeared in just four games and played 28 total snaps with Washington during his rookie campaign, but a team could definitely add the 2023 third-round pick to their practice squad or active roster once he's healthy again.
Agrees to settlement
The Commanders waived Stromberg (undisclosed) off injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Stromberg was in line to miss all of 2024 after he was placed on IR in late August, but he and the Commanders were able to agree on an injury settlement Monday. Once the 2023 third-round pick out of Arkansas is past his injury, he'll be free to find work elsewhere.
Reverts to injured reserve
Stromberg (undisclosed) reverted to injured reserve Wednesday, according to the NFL's transaction log. The center will have to reach an injury settlement with the Commanders to play in 2024. Stromberg competed for a depth role during the preseason. The second-year pro suffered a season-ending knee injury during Week 8 of his rookie year in 2023.
Plays in preseason opener
Stromberg (knee) played 41 snaps (40 on offense, one on special teams) in Saturday's 20-17 preseason loss to the Jets. Stromberg appeared in four games for the Commanders in 2023 before sustaining a season-ending knee injury in Week 8 against the Eagles. He's competing for a depth spot on Washington's offensive line.
Exits with knee injury
Stromberg's injury occurred on an extra-point try in the first quarter. The lineman had to be helped off the field and wasn't able to put any weight on his right leg, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Stromberg's absence will impact the Commanders' offensive line depth.
