Reaches injury settlement
Luther (undisclosed) and the Packers came to terms on an injury settlement Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Luther was on Green Bay's practice squad injured reserve, so he will now be free to find a new opportunity once his health allows it. The punter spent last season on the Patriots' practice squad before spending training camp with the Steelers and subsequently landing in Green Bay.
Dealing with injury
The Packers placed Luther (undisclosed) on their practice squad injured list Monday. The Gardner Webb product joined the Packers' practice squad after failing to make the Steelers' initial 53-man roster in late August. Luther has yet to see any NFL action after posting a 63-1,166-8 receiving line in his final collegiate season in 2022.
Finds new opportunity
Luther signed with the Packers' practice squad Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Luther was most recently with the Steelers during training camp but was unable to earn a roster spot. The 24-year-old has also had chances with the Jets and Patriots since going undrafted out of Gardner-Webb last spring.
Let go by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Luther on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. After being let go by New England in June, Luther caught on with Pittsburgh in early August to compete for a depth spot at wide receiver. He wasn't able to record a catch in his two preseason outings, and he will now look for opportunities elsewhere assuming he clears waivers.
Signs with Pittsburgh
Luther and the Steelers agreed on a contract Tuesday, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports. Luther worked out for the Steelers on Aug. 4 and he'll now officially join the team at practice. The wide receiver could be a viable option as return specialist with Pittsburgh in 2024.
Working out with Steelers
The Steelers are expected to host Luther for a workout Monday, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports. Luther was let go by the Patriots in June and will now look to impress in his workout Monday in Pittsburgh. The wide receiver has yet to appear in an NFL contest after spending the 2023 season on and off of New England's practice squad.
Dropped by Patriots
New England waived Luther on Thursday. Luther agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Patriots back in January, but the team has now decided to part ways with the 24-year-old wideout. The Gardner-Webb product will look elsewhere as he tries to make his NFL debut after going undrafted in 2023.
