Irwin was waived by the Bengals on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Irwin was a healthy scratch Week 13, and when Cincinnati's receivers have been healthy has seen very few opportunities. His role as the team's punt returner has also seemed to be taken over by Isaiah Williams who was recently claimed off waivers. Assuming Irwin goes unclaimed, he'd be a likely candidate to return to the Bengals' practice squad.
Irwin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against Pittsburgh. Irwin had frequently been a healthy inactive early this season, but he saw more opportunity when Tee Higgins was out with an injury Weeks 8 to 10. With Higgins back in Week 11, though, Irwin logged just three offensive snaps, and he won't play at all Week 13 following the Bengals' bye. With Charlie Jones (groin) also inactive Sunday, rookie Isaiah Williams could be asked to handle punts and may also get a few opportunities on offense.
Irwin failed to haul in his only target in Cincinnati's win over the Raiders on Sunday. Irwin has now failed to record any stats during two of his five appearances this season despite having seen increased playing time with Tee Higgins battling a quadriceps injury. Irwin's playing time could decrease during the team's Week 10 matchup versus Baltimore if Higgins is able to return.

With Higgins trending in a positive direction, Irwin will likely see his share of targets dwindle as the season progresses. The 28-year-old will be extremely difficult to trust when the Bengals host the Commanders in Week 3.

With teammate Tee Higgins (hamstring) out for the contest, Irwin was on the field for 65 percent of the Bengals' offensive snaps. The wideout's elevated usage, however, did not translate to much production. His two targets were behind both Ja'Marr Chase and Andrei Iosivas who both saw six targets. Going forward, Irwin will continue to be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes, assuming Higgins can return quickly from his hamstring issue. The Bengals square off against the Chiefs in Week 2.
Irwin is competing with Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones for the the No. 3 receiver spot as the Bengals' preseason opener approaches, Geoff Hobson of the team's official site reports. While Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are entrenched as the Bengals' top two wideouts, Hobson suggests that the team could employ a committee approach behind the top duo. In addition to Irwin, Iosivas and Jones, 2024 third-rounder Jermaine Burton also should have a chance to enter the WR3 equation. On the team's initial posted unofficial depth chart, Irwin is listed behind Chase and Higgins, but that's presumably attributable to his status as a veteran. In any case, based on perceived upside and ADP, Burton and Iosivas appear to be next up on the radar of fantasy drafters in terms of Cincinnati wide receivers.
