Lands on season-ending IR
The Dolphins placed Snead (undisclosed) on injured reserve Monday. Snead landed with Miami early in training camp, but his placement on injured reserve now rules him out for the entire 2024 season, unless he can reach an injury settlement. The nine-year veteran suited up for four regular-season games with the 49ers back in 2023.
Inks deal with Miami
The Dolphins signed Snead on Wednesday. Snead, a nine-year NFL veteran who's spent the majority of his career with the Ravens and Saints, has found a new home in Miami. He played just 70 total snaps in four regular-season games with the 49ers in 2023, so he'll likely be competing for a depth role in the Dolphins' wide receiver room as the preseason progresses.
Promoted from practice squad
This will be the second time Snead has been elevated by the 49ers since joining their practice squad on Sept. 1. He played 11 snaps -- seven on offense, four on special teams -- in Week 4 against the Cardinals and was able to haul in his lone target for nine yards. He'll add some depth at wide receiver with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) set to miss his second straight game.
