Charbonnet lost one yard on his only carry while corralling both of his targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to Minnesota. Charbonnet was expected to remain a "big part" of Seattle's game plan despite the return of starting tailback Kenneth Walker (ankle). While the lie detector test proved the team's report to be false, there is a silver lining hidden in the backup's lack of usage Sunday. Walker suffered an ankle injury late in the narrow loss, which could afford Charbonnet the opportunity to start in Week 17 and beyond. We will have to wait for the MRI results on the starter's ankle early in the practice week, but fantasy managers who felt scorned by Charbonnet in Week 16 should absolutely hang on to the talented backup ahead of Thursday's tilt against Chicago.

Silver lining to Sunday's dud
Remains part of Week 16 game plan
Charbonnet is expected to remain "a big part" of the Seahawks' game plan for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Even though the Seahawks are welcoming lead back Kenneth Walker (calf) back from a two-game absence, Charbonnet is unlikely to be completely phased out after he averaged 6.8 yards per carry and 8.9 yards per reception on 38 total touches over the past two weeks. Garafolo notes that Charbonnet is serving as a team captain Sunday, and because of that, the Seahawks are expected to announce him as a starter. Even so, Charbonnet is still likely to see his playing time and touch count take a significant hit with the return of Walker, who turned in a pair of full practices to close out the week and cleared up any concerns about his health in the process.
Cleared for Sunday
Charbonnet (oblique) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Minnesota, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Neither does Kenneth Walker, whose absence the past two weeks with a calf injury turned Charbonnet into a high-end fantasy starter. It's possible Charbonnet's strong performances will get him a few extra touches relative to his workload before Walker's injury, but the Seahawks have made it clear all season that they prefer Walker as the lead runner.
Gets back to limited Thursday
Charbonnet (oblique) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Charbonnet wasn't able to log any drills Wednesday due to an oblique injury, so his return to some activity one day later is a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, fellow RB Kenneth Walker (calf) practiced Thursday for the first time in more than two weeks, and he was a full participant at that. As a result, Walker appears set to regain the No. 1 role out of the Seahawks backfield Sunday versus the Vikings, which would relegate Charbonnet to backup duties, assuming he's active.
Tending to oblique issue
Charbonnet didn't practice Wednesday due to an oblique injury, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Charbonnet joined fellow running back Kenneth Walker (calf) as a non-participant to begin Week 16 prep, placing a cloud over the Seahawks backfield ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Kenny McIntosh is the only healthy player at the position on Seattle's active roster, and how Charbonnet and Walker fare in practices Thursday and Friday likely will determine who may be the team's primary rusher this weekend.
Scores team's only TD on SNF
Charbonnet had eight carries for 54 yards and a touchdown while adding one reception (on four targets) for 12 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to Green Bay. The entirety of Seattle's offense was stymied by Green Bay's defense aside from Charbonnet's 24-yard touchdown scamper early in the fourth quarter. The surging sophomore has thrived in his last two starts sans Kenneth Walker (calf), unearthing 259 yards from scrimmage with three touchdowns as the Seahawks' primary back. Walker could potentially return in Week 16, which would put a significant dent in Charbonnet's value at a crucial point of the fantasy campaign. Until the former is officially ruled active, managers should hang on to the talented backup in the event he draws another start against the Vikings next Sunday.
Trending towards another start
Charbonnet is expected to start Sunday versus the Packers after the Seahawks listed Kenneth Walker (ankle/calf) as doubtful, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Walker's status may not be confirmed until the inactive list is released 90 minutes ahead of the Sunday night game, but considering he didn't practice all week, it looks like he should sit out for a second straight game. Charbonnet was fantastic as the starter in the Week 14 win over the Cardinals, turning 29 touches into 193 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns.
Shines in lead role Sunday
Charbonnet rushed 22 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns while corralling all seven of his targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 30-18 win over Arizona. Starter Kenneth Walker (ankle/calf) was unable to suit up for Sunday's crucial NFC West battle, opening the door for Charbonnet to make his third start of the campaign. The sophomore backup wound up setting new career highs in both rushing (134) and receiving yards (59) while punching in a pair of touchdowns. Five of Charbonnet's seven touchdown rushes have come in three spot-starts for Walker this season, highlighting the major fantasy value that can be unearthed in those scenarios. Fantasy managers who missed out on Sunday's point bonanza should monitor Walker's status for Week 15 before putting in large bids for Seattle's talented backup ahead of next Sunday's tilt against Green Bay.
In line for big role Week 14
Charbonnet appears set to lead Seattle's backfield Sunday versus Arizona with Kenneth Walker III (ankle/calf) downgraded to out for the critical NFC West clash. Walker has been a workhorse for the Seahawks this season, relegating Charbonnet to a minor role as the team's backup RB. However, Walker will be unable to suit up for Sunday's matchup -- a game that will determine which of the two teams assumes control of the the division -- and Charbonnet will almost certainly be thrust into a bigger workload than usual as a result. When Walker missed two games earlier this season (in Weeks 2 and 3), Charbonnet stepped in and averaged 16 carries for 64.5 yards while scoring three total rushing touchdowns across the pair of contests, and he could be headed for a similar carry count against the Cardinals. Kenny McIntosh could be in the mix for an increase in offensive snaps as well, but he's unlikely to be given a large workload given that he hasn't logged a snap on offense in any of Seattle's past five games.
