Drew Stanton will make his first NFL start in four years when the Cardinals take on the Giants Sunday afternoon.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Carson Palmer is Out
After a pretty stellar opening week, completing 24 of 37 passes for 304 years and 2 TDS, Carson Palmer is out this week nursing a shoulder injury for nerve complications in his shoulder.
2. Stanton Has Not Thrown In the Regular Season Since 2010

Stanton is now 30 and has not thrown a regular season pass since Dec. 19, 2010, when he was playing for the Lions with a QB rating of 39.9. Throwing for 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, while also 3 fumbles. However, he had a solid preseason throwing 6 for 8 and a touchdown against Minnesota and threw for 152 yards and a touchdown against the Texans.
3. Only 5 Touchdowns in Stanton’s NFL Career
Stanton has only thrown for 5 touchdowns in his entire NFL career and nine interceptions since being drafted in 2007. In 2010 during one of his starts against the Giants, Stanton completed 19 of 34 passes for 222 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Giants did win that game 28-20.

The Big Lead places Carson Palmer in the low teens in fantasy football quarterbacks and Stanton even make into in their top 25. Stanton has struggled in games before and with Fitzgerald held to only one catch last week, fantasy numbers for Stanton should be bleak.
5. He Was the #2 College Quarterback in 2007
In 2006, Stanton’s senior year at Michigan State he was listed at one point at #2 college quarterback for the NFL Draft by ESPN and was a Heisman Trophy candidate at one point. This same year he lead Michigan to the largest point margin come back in NCAA Division 1 football history.
He finished his college career with 6,524 yards throwing, 42 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions and rushing for 1,512 yards and 15 touchdowns. Stanton was named Offensive MVP for the North in 2007 Senior Bowl.
Stanton also married his high school sweetheart and college girlfriend Kristin Taylor, now Kristin Stanton.
