WATCH: Pete Frates Greets Derek Jeter at Fenway Park

Pete Frates, the former Boston College baseball captain and inspiration behind the Ice Bucket Challenge, was one of the guests Sunday at Fenway Park, where the Red Sox honored Derek Jeter prior to his final game in the big leagues.

The Sox showed a video clip of Jeter taking the challenge on the center field jumotron, then introduced Frates, who wheeled himself out onto the field to greet Jeter to a standing ovation.

The ceremony was a star-studded affair that also included appearances by former Red Sox captains Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice and Jason Varitek, Bruins legend Bobby Orr, and former captains Paul Pierce of the Celtics and Troy Brown of the Patriots.
