The world’s best distance runners will gather Sunday for the New York City Marathon, with American Meb Keflezighi trying to follow up on his victory at the Boston Marathon with a win in the Big Apple.
The race gets underway at 8:30 a.m. when wheelchair competitors start, with professional women starting at 9:10 a.m. and professional men started at 9:40 a.m. The race starts on the Staten Island side of the Verrezano-Narrows Bridge before moving into Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx, then coming back into Manhattan and finishing in Central Park.

ABC and ESPN have the telecast, with coverage airing on ABC in the New York market and on ESPN2 nationally. ABC’s local coverage starts at 7 a.m. Eastern, while ESPN2’s begins at 9 a.m. Eastern.
ESPN’s John Anderson and Hannah Storm will co-anchor the telecast, with a team of ABC7 reporters joining them.

ESPN SportsCenter anchors John Anderson and Hannah Storm co-host race day coverage, with Anderson providing commentary from the booth and Storm at the start and finish lines. They will be joined by ABC7 sports anchors Rob Powers and Laura Behnke, reporter Lewis Johnson and analysts Tim Hutchings and Carrie Tollefson. John Del Giorno (helicopter), Lee Goldberg (weather), Paula Radcliffe (lead women’s reporter), Toni Reavis (lead men’s reporter), David Willey (on-course reporter) and ABC7 reporters Anthony Johnson, Kemberly Richardson and Joe Torres will also provide updates throughout the race.
