Smith accepted the head coaching job with the Falcons in 2008 after four season as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive coordinator.


2. Smith Had a 66-45 Record With Atlanta

Smith went 66-45 in those seasons, with a 1-4 postseason record. His only playoff win came in 2013 against the Seattle Seahawks.

4. The Falcons Were Smith’s Third NFL Team

Before going to the Falcons, Smith spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars as the defensive coordinator and the Baltimore Ravens working with the defensive line and linebackers. His NFL career started in 1999 after over a decade working with colleges. His first coaching job was with San Diego State, followed by Morehead State and Tennessee Tech.
