Russell Wilson is one of the most successful quarterbacks through his 1st three seasons in NFL history — he boasts a .750 winning percentage (36-12 overall record) and a Super Bowl championship in his 2nd season in the league — and he is still only 26-years-old.
Wilson was born on November 29, 1988 in Cincinnati, Ohio, but grew up in Richmond, Virginia. He attended high school at Collegiate School in Richmond where he played quarterback and became a standout recruit. He would eventually attend North Carolina State and play from 2007-10.
Because Wilson redshirted his freshman season at NC State, he obtained an extra year of playing eligibility. Eventually, he was torn between his football and baseball careers. In April 2011, he decided to transfer to Wisconsin, and with his one year left of playing eligibility, he would be able to play quarterback for the Badgers for the 2011-12 season.
When Wilson was drafted, he was 23-years-old, which compared to NFL quarterbacks drafted from 1970-2008 is actually… right. The average age of NFL quarterbacks drafted during that time period is 23.07 years old.
