Longtime sports anchor Stuart Scott provided us with a catchphrase for almost every situation. Scott, who passed away after a long battle with cancer, made sure to let his personality shine through his work.
Though the list is tremendously long, Heavy has narrowed it down to the top five. But, as Scott would say, “Like gravy on a biscuit, it’s all good!”
Here they are:
1. Boo-yah!
One of Scott’s most popular catchphrases, “Boo-yah!” can be used for any sport and an array of plays. It can be used in a celebratory manner or astonishment. For the most part, it’s used when showing highlights from a game, when you know a big play is going to happen.
2. As Cool as the Other Side of the Pillow
Likely Scott’s most memorable catchphrase, he used this to describe a player who had a career game. In this context, he’s saying whatever the player does is done right and with ease.
3. They Call Him the Windex Man ‘Cause He’s Always Cleaning the Glass
Scott used this when a basketball player was scoring a healthy amount of rebounds in a game. In this case, “cleaning the glass” referred to the backboard.
4. You Ain’t Gotta Go Home, But You Gotta Get The Heck Outta Here
Usually in reference to a player being ejected or striking out, Scott said this is the most compassionate way. He wasn’t making fun or being disrespectful, he’s just telling it like it is.
5. He Treats Him Like a Dog. Sit. Stay.
Scott said this after Allen Iverson broke a defender’s ankles during a game. In this context, it means the defender was completely powerless against Iverson.
