The celebration is probably still going on in Durham from Duke’s National Championship win over Wisconsin on Monday night.
But the sportsbooks have already turned the page.
The early odds for March Madness 2016 have been released and it’s the Blue Devils’ neighbor and most-heated rival given the best shot to cut down the nets in NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
That’s right, Roy Williams and his North Carolina Tar Heels are the early favorites to win next year’s NCAA Tournament. Sportsbooks gave them 6/1 odds, followed by Kentucky at 8/1. The books are high on Maryland as the ‘Terps garnered 12/1 odds, as did Virginia.
Duke came in at 16/1 and the runner-up Badgers 33/1 after losing key seniors, including player of the year Frank Kaminsky.
