Danny Garcia takes on Lamont Peterson in a catchweight bout on Saturday April 11 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Premier Boxing Championship’s double-header that airs live on NBC.
The fight will be carried live in the States at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 pm. PT. Box Nation has the fight in the UK, airing at 1:30 a.m.
Odds of Winning
Danny Garcia enters the contest a favorite in Vegas and on online sportsbooks (see odds below). But Lamont Peterson is one tough customer with a big heart and a thick beard. This won’t be a walk in the park for Garcia.
In his previous fight, Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) thrashed an outmatched Rod Salka on his way to a second-round KO in June 2014. Going into the Salka fight, 27-year-old Garcia had barely squeezed by Mauricio Herrera with a controversial majority decision, and outpointed tough guy Lucas Mattysse. Garcia holds wins over Erik Morales, Amir Khan, and Zab Judah.
“I love Brooklyn,” Garcia said. “It’s my fourth fight at Barclays Center and I’m looking to make it 4-0 on April 11.”
Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) enters the ring coming off of a late-round tko win over Edgar Santana in June 2014. This followed a victory over Dierry Jean and a third-round knockout loss at the hands of Lucas Mattysse. 31-year-old Peterson’s only other loss was to Timothy Bradley in 2009.
“The plan might be to just go out there and fight him,” Peterson said of his gameplan going into the bout. “Regardless of how I choose to fight, I feel like I can win.”
