Nick Saracino has done his part in getting Providence to the Frozen Four championship game for the NCAA Title — their second appearance in 30 years.

The 23-year-old St. Louis product has been working his way through the hockey ranks.

Here’s what you need to know about him:


1. Saracino Played in the USHL Before Providence

Before committing to and playing for Providence, Saracino played for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL from 2010-2012.

In two seasons with the team, he recorded 79 points from 24 goals and 55 assists in 109 games, including playoffs. He finished with a +17 rating.


2. Saracino Committed to Providence in November, 2014

The RoughRiders announced in November, 2014, that Saracino had committed to Providence.

Nick has tremendous upside potential which we havn’t even seen yet. He continues to work hard on his game and has become a leader on our young team. We expect his contribution to the team to continue to grow throughout the season

At the time, he led his team in points and the league in plus/minus rating.


3. Saracino Has 38 Points This Season

So far, going into the title game, Saracino has a team-high 38 points on the season from 14 goals and 24 assists in 39 games.

His assists number is also a team high.


4. He Has 84 Points in 106 Games With Providence

During his three years with Providence, Saracino has accumulated 84 points from 106 games, giving him a 0.79 points per game average. He has 35 goals and 49 assists over this span.


5. Providence Has Never Won a NCAA Title

Providence’s only other NCAA title game appearance was in 1985, when they lost to Rensselaer, 2-1, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

This is their fourth Frozen Four appearance in school history.
