Preakness 2015: Entries, Post Positions & Starting Gate

The 2015 Preakness Stakes post positions have been determined. This year’s race will only feature eight contenders as Stanford, Materiality, Carpe Diem and Competitive Edge were not entered into the field.

Here are the eight horses and their starting post positions:

American Pharoah who started from the outside in the Kentucky Derby will now have the inner-most post-position for the Preakness. His fellow Bob Baffert partner Dortmund will start right next to him in post two. Firing Line who finished 2nd in the Kentucky Derby will start from post-position eight.

The Baltimore Sun gave a unique look at the starting gate at Pimlico before Saturday’s race.
