Winner: John Dodson by unanimous decision.
Flyweights John Dodson and Zach Makovsky headlined the UFC 187 prelims Saturday, May 23 on Fox Sports 1.
The 30-year-old Dodson (17-6) was coming off wins over John Moraga and Darrell Montague, following a loss to Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson, the headliner of UFC on Fox 6.
Makovsky (20-5), 32, was also coming off a win, over Tim Elliott in February.
According to OddsShark, Dodson was a heavy favorite at -700, while Makovksy was a +500 underdog.

Round 1:
– Herb Dean the referee for the matchup between Dodosn and Makovsky. Dodson has been out of the ring for about a year after a knee injury.
– A straight left to Dodson’s head brings a smile to the No. 1-ranked flyweight, Dodson.
– Makovsky lands another straight left hand, and then a knee to the body as he attempts a tie-up and looks for the take down. .
Round 2:
– Makovsky gets Dodson in a clinch against the cage and lands a few shots before they break and return to the center of the ring, where he delivers another hard left hand.
– Dodson shakes off a head kick from Makovsky and is pinned against the fence briefly. Zach gets the first takedown of the fight, but Dodson gets right back up and slams Makovsky down with a huge takedown of his own.
– Makovsky attacks Dodson’s leg from his back, but Dodson steps over and escapes the submission attempt as the second round winds to a close.
Round 3:
– Makovsky delivers a knee to the body as the two men square off in the center of the ring. Makovsky looks for another takedown, but is stopped by Dodson.
– “Fun Size” continues to look for takedowns, but Dodson fights him off as the Las Vegas crowd gets restless and boos the flyweight fighters.
– Dodson delivers a knee to the body as Makovsky ducks down for a takedown attempt and then catches Makovsky’s kick and takes him to the mat, but Zach pops right back up.
