Washington National ace Max Scherzer was 1 out from a perfect game Saturday vs. the Pirates.
But a pitch just an inch or so too much inside grazed Pittsburgh’s Jose Tabata, ending the quest.

Ugh, that’s rough. But, Scherzer is a beast. And he did what great pitchers do. He regrouped and got Josh Harrison to fly out to complete the no-hitter, the first of the right-hander’s career.
The 2013 Cy Young Award winner struck out 10 and needed just 106 pitches in the gem.
