Final Scores
College football’s Week 2 proved to be both interesting and entertaining. There were threats of upsets like Jacksonville State against Auburn. There were actual upsets such as Toldeo’s victory over Arkansas. Finally, marquee matchups lived up to the hype we all expected.
Tennessee and Oklahoma went into overtime. Oregon and Michigan State was a hard fought contest that came down to the final minutes. Finally, LSU and Mississippi State was decided by a field goal. All in all it was a great week of college football.
Here are all the key highlights from Week 2:
BYU Beat Boise State on Another Late Touchdown Pass
Tanner Magnum did it again. The Cougars were down four with just 45 seconds remaining. This long touchdown pass put BYU on top and was reminiscent of last week’s Hail Mary. The Cougars sealed the victory with a pick-six on defense.
Oklahoma Had an Amazing Comeback Victory Against Tennessee
Sterling Shepard Had the Game Winning Touchdown
This would turn out to be the game winning touchdown thanks to a Vols interception to end the game. Sooner quarterback Baker Mayfield found Shepard on the sideline and Shepard used his athleticism to find the endzone.
Oklahoma trailed 17-3 midway through the 4th quarter, but Mayfield led them to an improbably overtime victory shocking the Volunteers at Neyland Stadium.
Toledo Shocked Arkansas With Upset Victory
In a stunning development, Toledo upset No. 18 Arkansas 16-12. Toledo led for most of the game and it is a shocking loss for an Arkansas team that some believed would compete for the SEC West.
Long Touchdown Pass Led Notre Dame Over Virginia
The Irish escaped with a shocking victory. Backup Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer throws this long bomb to receiver Will Fuller to go up 34-27 with 12 seconds left in the game. The Irish lost starting quarterback Malik Zaire to an ankle injury earlier in the game. He finished 8-of-12 for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Virginia Led Notre Dame 27-26
Virginia takes the lead against Notre Dame with less than two minutes remaining in the game. We will see if Notre Dame backup quarterback DeShone Kizer can lead the team on a game-winning drive.
Malik Zaire Suffered Nasty Ankle Injury
Malik Zaire was running with the ball late in the third quarter when his ankle turned on the play above. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury but it does not look good based on the replay. We will update you as soon as we know more.
Zaire had 115 yards passing and 87 yards rushing. Notre Dame trailed Virginia midway through the third quarter, but now lead 26-21 at the start of the fourth quarter. DeShone Kizer takes over at quarterback for the Irish.
Zaire is coming off an amazing performance against the Texas Longhorns in last week’s 38-3 victory. He was 19-of-22 for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Toledo Led Arkansas at Halftime
A few days after Arkansas coach Bret Bielema complained about the strength of schedule of conferences like the Big Ten, he finds his team trailing Toledo at halftime 9-7. We will see if the Razorbacks are able to have a better second half.
Michigan Crushed Oregon State
Michigan defeated Oregon State 35-7 for the first victory in the Jim Harbaugh eara. The Wolverines were carried by De’Veon Smith’s 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Rudock threw for a 180 yards and an interception.
FSU Stepped on the Gas and Defeated USF
Despite the slow first half, FSU defeated USF 34-14. The Seminoles were led by Dalvin Cook’s 266 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Everett Golson had 163 yards and one touchdown.
Auburn Escaped With a Win
Auburn beat Jacksonville State in overtime 27-20. Jacksonville State was led by quarterback Eli Jenkins. Jenkins had 277 yards passing and also provided a rushing threat at times.
For Auburn, Jeremy Johnson struggled. Johnson finished with 236 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. It is his second straight rough outing. They face LSU next week.
Auburn and Jacksonville State Went to Overtime
After four quarters, the game is tied 20-20. If Jacksonville State can upset Auburn it would be one of the more shocking upsets in college football in recent memory.
Jacksonville State Led Auburn 20-13
Jacksonville State scored this touchdown late in the 4th quarter. The Gamecocks are ahead with 2:00 remaining. Can they hold on for the shocking upset?
Michigan Had a Good Start at Home
Today marks Jim Harbaugh’s home debut and the Wolverines are off to a good start. They lead Oregon State 20-7 heading into the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jake Rudock is 16-of-23 for 167 yards passing.
FSU Was in a Close Contest With USF Early on in the Game
Early in the third quarter FSU holds just a slight lead at 14-7. USF entered the game as almost a 30 point underdog, but they are giving the Seminoles all they can handle. FSU joins Auburn as top teams on upset alert.
Jacksonville State Led No. 6 Auburn 10-6 at Halftime
This touchdown pass gave Jacksonville State a 10-6 lead in the second quarter in front of a stunned crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn quarterback threw an interception the next series to give the ball back to Jacksonville State.
Dalvin Cook Had Long Touchdown Run
The FSU running back showed his speed early against USF. Cook ran through the Bulls defense for a 74-yard touchdown run. The touchdown put the Seminoles up 7-0 early in the first quarter.
